Apple Walnut Cinnamon Oatmeal
Serves: 6

Apples, walnuts, cinnamon, and oats combine together for a savory and healthy breakfast!
Ingredients
  • 6 c water (for a creamier apple oatmeal, use milk)
  • 4 c rolled oats, regular
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 2 apples, peeled and diced
  • ½ c walnuts, chopped
  • ½-1 tsp. cinnamon
Optional Ingredients:
  • chia seeds
  • raisins
  • flax seed
  • brown sugar
Instructions
  1. Place 6 cups water into a large pot. Add salt and turn on high to bring to a boil.
  2. Peel and dice apples. Add them to the hot water.
  3. When water is boiling, add the oats, walnuts, and cinnamon (add any other ingredients at this time as well).
  4. Turn heat down to medium-low. Simmer for 3-5 minutes, stirring constantly, or until oats are done. Serve warm with milk or almond milk.
Notes
I like my oatmeal a little less runny. You can add less oats or more oats depending upon desired consistency. Also, if you cook the oats in milk it makes for a really creamy consistency. If I really want to indulge, in addition to cooking my oatmeal in milk, I add a T of real butter to the boiling water. So creamy and yummy!
